Brief history of Rotary club of Kothamangalam, Club No.22602, District 3200, India.
Kothamangalam is a small town situated in the central part of Kerala state in South India. It is mainly an agricultural area with crops like rubber and paddy. The nearest city is Cochin which is 50 kilometers away and Cochin International airport is 30 kilometers from here. The people belong to all religions and there are 3 major Christian churches, 2 Hindu temples and few Muslim mosques in the town.
Rotary club of Kothamangalam was formed in the early months of 1985 with 31 members on the rolls. The club was inaugurated on 21 Feb.1985 and Charter presented on 29,March, 1985.At present we have 69 members of which 39 are Paul Harris Fellows and 3 are Major Donors.. We have our own building called Rotary Bhavan Our Centennial project is up gradation of the school by constructing new class rooms and improving the facilities. The weekly meetings of the club are held every Friday at 8 PM in the Rotary Bhavan.
We have done many community service projects in this part of the country. We conduct regular medical camps in the under privileged areas where free treatment is offered to the poor and needy people. As a part of the poverty alleviation program we provide various types of helps to the orphanages and old age homes in the town. We have started Digital libraries, Smart Class rooms and E learning centres in schools. We also regularly conduct a Karate training camp for children during the school vacation period in the Rotary Bhavan.

7. Cardiac Ambulance to St.Joseph’s hospital (Rotary club of Bellevue Seattle, Washington).
8. Diabetic Eye Clinic- Global Grant Project
